This past weekend I went to Jerusalem with my 2 best friends. We left the Mercaz Klitah and headed to the central bus station. On a friday, the walk is absolutely beautiful, from the people cleaning their homes for shabbat to the chaos at the shuk with people buying last minute groceries for the shabbat meals. Once we got to the central bus station we walked over to our favorite shwarma stand and started our weekend journey, afterall what is shabbat without shwarma? We arrived at the platform and as usual had to push and shove our way onto the bus... and we didnt even get seats! Once we got to Jerusalem, we really felt the shabbat spirit approaching as we walked to shuk Machane Yehuda to pick up our sweet challah from pa'erand our ruggalach from marzipan. We arrived at our friends house just in time to take a nice pre-shabbat nap. After we woke we helped prepare the table for dinner and then left the house to go to our favorite synagogue, Shira Chadasha. The service was amazing as usual, all the different kind of people, everyone singing and dancing in unicen to allow for the enterance of the shabbat queen. After Kabbalat Shabbat we walked back to our friends house and had our long awaited dinner and played a few card games and monopoly before bed. The next morning we headed over to Yemin Moshe for shacharit, followed by THE BEST kiddush in Jerusalem! Afterward we talked to the locals and enjoyed our long walk back for lunch. The lunch was quick and then our naps began! After the closing of shabbat we started to head back to Be'er Sheva. On the way home we stopped for ice cream at the local shop, Glitza, and headed back to our appartments to greet our friends and have our ritual sunday night "How I Met Your Mother" viewing! And that concludes, the perfect shabbat. |
