Jerusalem Marathon to Raise Scholarship Money for Future Nativers

Nativ 41 is giving back in a big way. Three Nativers, Lily Weinstein, Sophia Jacobson, and Seth Schlank, organized a group to participate in the Jerusalem Marathon this March, and raised scholarship money for future Nativers. Lily Weinstein first came up with the idea in the courtyard of Hebrew University. She was thinking about how small Nativ 41 was in comparison to previous years. She wanted to help get more participants on Nativ. Coming from Raleigh, NC there are so few Jews and there are far less opportunities for scholarships to go on Nativ. She knew that Nativ does not have a huge budget for scholarships either. She, Sophia Jacobson, and Seth Schlank thought they could raise scholarship money by running the Jerusalem Marathon. So far they have raised $3500!

To make it interesting, the organizers created a competition within Nativ to see who could raise the most money. If everyone participated and gave something then they would get to pie Sara Miriam in the face!

19 Nativers signed up and ran the Jerusalem Marathon. They had options of running the half marathon, a 10K, or a 5K. Lily beat her time running the 10K. Seth ran the half marathon in under 2 hours, the farthest he’s ever run. And this was Sophia’s third Jerusalem marathon. Everyone had a great run, and loved seeing their friends and fellow Nativers cheering them on.

It’s not too late to donate, even a small amount. Every little bit helps. They hope the funds they raise can make a difference. Their goal is to keep the GoFundMe page for future years. Thanks to them and future contributors more people will be able to experience Nativ.
